David Kincaid, OD (Retired)
Founder, Optometrist
Dr. David Kincaid graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1977. He grew up in Columbus, Nebraska, and attended college in Columbus and St. Louis, MO.
After graduating, he practiced in Wayne for one year with Drs. Bill and Don Koeber. In 1978, he moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska, and founded Vision Siouxland.
Dr. Kincaid has been actively involved in numerous church and community boards and committees, including serving as president of the South Sioux City Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serving on the fundraising committee for Northeast Nebraska Community College. In 1987, he was recognized as an Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Jaycees. He is also an active member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church.
Dr Kincaid has been a lifelong member of both the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association (NOA). He has served on the NOA Board for several years and was president in 1993. During that year, he introduced us to a program now known as See to Learn. He has also served on the North Central Board. In recognition of his contributions, he was named Nebraska Optometric Association’s “OD of the Year” in 1999 and received the NOA’s “Distinguished Service Award” in 2009.
Dr. Kincaid has served on the Board of Directors for Hi-Tech Optics since 1982 and was on the advisory board for the Beacon Eye Institute in Toronto, Canada, from 1994 to 1997. He has been a member of the South Sioux City Rotary Club since 1978 and became a Paul Harris Fellow in 2000.
He has strongly supported all the Association’s legislative efforts through financial contributions to PAC and legislative funds and by serving as a Key Person for his district senator. Currently, he sits on the fundraising committee for Operation Prairie Fire and has testified at legislative hearings on behalf of optometry. In 2000, he was appointed to the Nebraska Board of Optometry, served as Board Chairman for four years, and completed his second five-year term in 2010.
Dr. Kincaid is an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoys hunting deer and wild turkeys. He recently went on a moose hunt in the Yukon Territory, and he has bred Paso Fino horses at Thunderbird Farms since 1987. He and his wife, Diana, have two sons, Sam and Dan. Sam and his wife, Erica, are the proud parents of Dave and Diana’s grandchildren, a girl named Jaycie Shayne and a boy named Arlington Milo. His son, Dr. Dan Kincaid, joined the practice in 2013.
